Product Review

Pioneer helps make your driving a real pleasure. The DEH-P80MP will fix that, real fast: 60 watts of clean MOSFET power will absolutely flood your vehicle. For convenience (and a high coolness factor) the Auto-Flap Motorized Face silently glides back and forth for CD loading. It also features a totally new design, with a unique 7-Way Rotary Commander for easy operation plus a Deep Blue OEL Display with screensavers and background videos. You can even import your own customized digital movies into the display! Playback includes MP3, WMA, and it's upgrade ready for Satellite Radio (XM or Sirius) and the hot iPod Adapter. The DEH-P80MP delivers a full 60 watts x 4 channels. And it's not just 60 watts; this is MOSFET 60 (MOSFET stands for Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transmitter, but you knew that). Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. For clean, efficient power, the MOSFET 60 circuit rocks. Pioneer OEL Display 7-Way Rotary Commander is like a musical joystick - with one central dial you can actually control 90% of the unit's functions and features. Scrolling through your MP3/WMA files and folders is now way easier

The Story behind:

Pioneer DEH-P80MP (Sold as DEH-P1Y in India, and other Asian countries) is the one of the best CD/MP3 head units available from Pioneer. The reason behind it is simple. Pioneer did an open survey on their website, and asked for the feedback from loyal Pioneer customers about the car audio unit they want.

Majority of the people asked for:

1.Less buttons - So they removed all those 20 or so useless buttons, and added multifunction Jog-Dial (7-Way Rotary Commander).

2.More Power - So instead of industry average output of 50Ws, they increased it to 60Ws (each channel).

3.Unique looks - Now anyone who has seen this equipment will agree that it does look different from other head units.

4.iPod compatible - So they made it iPod ready. However, you need a Pioneer CD-IB100 iPod Adapter to connect your iPod.

I am using this unit for 2 years now. Yes, mine was one of the first cars in which this model...Read more

I was very happy with this unit for a good two years. It replaced the stock unit in my RSX and gave me great sound through my Bose speakers. However, after two years, the mechanical face flip started giving me problems. It would randomly get stuck and not flip down when I turned off my car, and there is no way to remove the face unless the motor pushes it down. I lived with this issue, but after a few more months, the jog dial knob broke off of the face. I'd say it has seen only moderate usage and no abuse, but the knob is made of cheap plastic. I am forced to use the remote now if I want to use the unit at all.
